Raising a Reader

Our school participates in the Raising a Reader program, which provides each family with a bag of books to take home each week, and return the next.

Our fundraising program ensures the success of our school and plays an integral part in funding our program. Fundraising is an essential part of making our coop affordable for all families. Each family is expected to participate in three fundraising activities during the year. The 2017-18 fundraising plan is currently under review.  Additional fundraising information is here.

WPENS is a preschool for the community.  We value the education of every child regardless of economic circumstances.  For this reason, there is an annual budget dedicated to new student scholarships.  There is an optional form included with your membership packet if you would like to request a partial scholarship for the school year.  Your request will go through the board for approval and will be reviewed quarterly.  We also offer hardship scholarships throughout the year if you find that your financial situation has changed.  If you would like to donate to the scholarship fund please contact our Receiving Treasurer.

Additional Information

Current Openings

There will be various openings all year and we accept enrollment forms at any time.  We try very hard to maintain an equal gender balance in each class.  Even though you may not be at the top of the wait list, we may have an opening for your child if he/she is the right age and gender for an available slot.  Please contact our membership team through Contact Us Form to inquire about current or expected openings.

Wait List Maintenance

There is no cost or obligation to be put on the wait list.  Once placed on the wait list, your child may stay on the list until they are of preschool age at which time they will be removed.  You will receive a call when there is an opening and you may either accept or decline.  However, failure to respond to an inquiry or to update your contact information may result in you being removed from the wait list.  You may put your child on the wait list before they are 2 years old, you will be notified of openings when they are of age.

Younger Siblings

If you have a child that is younger than 2 years old you may bring that child with you on your work days. They do; however, take a certain amount of time and attention. As a result, only three families with siblings this age will be allowed to enroll in the MWF classes and four families in the T/Th classes. If the class has no more openings for families with younger children, you can either take the opening and make other arrangements for the care of your infant/toddler or pass the opening and stay on the waiting list for another opening. A sibling can no longer come on your work day after turning 2 unless enrolled.

Not sure if WPENS is right for you?  We encourage interested parents and children to visit the classroom.  You can observe the children at play, speak with the teacher, and meet some of the other parents in the co-op.  To schedule a visit email m… or call 831-429-3995.

Contact Us

If you would like to have your child placed on our wait list, please fill out the Enrollment Form. If you have other questions please email us at m… with the following information:

  • Parent’s name(s)
  • Child’s full name
  • Child’s date of birth

My two year old loves it and can’t wait to go to school each day! Not only do the kids get a great education, but us parents get the opportunity to be involved, and best of all the whole family gets a built in community and support system. – Grace S.
