All WPENS parents are invited to our monthly board meetings.
We have 8 board meetings per year and encourage each of you to come to at least one of those meetings so you can learn about this piece of how our school works. Coming to a board meeting is different from joining the board as a member--attending a board meeting requires no commitment.
“Attending a WPENS board meeting really demystified the governance of our school for me. I had anticipated gavel-banging and formal proposals, but what really occurred was eye-opening: I sat in a small circle of engaged WPENS parents and our beloved teachers, all of whom care deeply about the current and future state of our school. We sat together in the same circle space as our children do, and laughed and shared snacks as we debated the best solutions to issues facing WPENS.
The group works by consensus and listens to all viewpoints. It’s simultaneously
informal and productive. We shared our visions of how WPENS could grow and
reflected on ideas about making WPENS its best self.
This experience convinced me that even though I am busy, I am not too busy for WPENS. We invite all of you, new and returning parents, to bring your ideas for WPENS to a board meeting as well. If you aren't able to make it, please email me your ideas and concerns and suggestions, and I will make sure to bring them up to our board.
Thank you, and keep up the wonderful work you are doing to create community and learning in our classroom!”
